The Challenge

After successfully completing Old Yard, a private courtyard development of six houses and one apartment off Buller Road, our developer client asked us to return and deliver a new project – The Gatehouse. The aim was to create a distinctive apartment that respected the neighbouring Victorian terrace while adding something contemporary.

Our Approach

Working with West Port Architects, we guided the scheme through planning and design, securing consent for a three-bedroom home. The design incorporated a playful curved oriel window and a carefully considered mix of materials, giving the building a bold yet sensitive presence on the street. We managed the planning process and provided design input. We then managed the tender process and handed the build over to a main contractor.

The Outcome

Planning consent was achieved for a unique, contemporary home that enhanced the streetscape while meeting the client’s brief. The Gatehouse added further value to the site and built on the success of the wider Old Yard development.
